Going into Week 6, rumors were swirling that Amari Cooper could be on the trading block. With the Raiders season spiraling downhill, it is becoming more and more apparent that the new man in charge, Jon Gruden, wants “his guys” rather than those he inherited. Oakland, now 1-5, has already traded Khalil Mack and could be open to other deals, with Cooper being the most notable. After another miserable performance, the Raiders look poised to compete for the first overall pick in the draft.
Cooper has been frustrating and highly inconsistent over the 2018 and 2017 seasons. Drops have been a problem for sure. He looks somewhat disinterested while lacking discipline and physicality, but Cooper is a very talented all-around wide receiver. The thing though is that Cooper’s tape is more impressive than his lackluster numbers. Getting out of his current situation could do this 24-year-old a lot of good, but acquiring Cooper does come with some risk without question.
