Green Bay Packers

Fantasy Fact or Fiction – Aaron Rodgers Has New Toy

Below are several fantasy players whose production stuck out in Week 9 in either a positive or negative manner. Let’s examine if that trend will keep up or if it was just a blip on the radar.

Tevin Coleman

Week 9 Stat Line: 13 Carries For 88 Rushing Yards, 5 Receptions For 68 Yards And 2 Touchdowns

Fact or Fiction? Fact

Coleman is a linear athlete that runs somewhat high and doesn’t show great vision, but his acceleration and long speed is rare and Coleman is an excellent receiver. The Falcons haven’t run the ball well this year, but if Coleman remains a constant in this excellent passing game, his fantasy value is obvious. Matt Ryan went Coleman’s way seven times on Sunday, but we do need to realize that the most targets Coleman saw in any other game this year was just four, so there is some risk here.

Injuries may be Difference in Tight NFC North

The injury report is a must study in the NFC North each Friday.

November is going to be a brutal month for NFC North teams and none of the four teams can afford overloaded injury reports. There’s a game-and-a-half gap between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions with Minnesota and Green Bay in between them. The upstart Bears are 4-3, the Vikings are 4-3-1, the Packers are 3-3-1 and the Lions are 3-4. See, it’s a tight race.

The way the month is shaping up the NFC North teams the all four teams can do serious damage to playoff hopes or playoff seedings. NFC North teams face each other five times this month. Unless one team gets hot, there is a good chance the NFC North leader could come out of the month one game over .500 or just .500.

Trade Deadline Fantasy Impact – Some Winners in Green Bay

Breaking down fantasy impact of Tuesday’s trade deadline deals:

Ravens receive: RB Ty Montgomery

Packers receive: 2020 seventh-round pick

How this affects Ravens:

This makes Javorius Allen close to useless for fantasy reasons and Montgomery should quickly assume the passing game duties from Baltimore’s backfield. Alex Collins’ stock takes a little hit here as well. Collins is averaging a measly 3.7 yards per carry and overall, this offense could use a little spark that Montgomery might just provide. The competition for backfield touches (and might Montgomery also play some wide receiver in his new home?) with the Ravens is lesser than in Green Bay, so this trade helps Montgomery a bit as well. With just a 2020 seventh round pick as compensation, this doesn’t look like much, but this move might end up paying off well for Baltimore and Montgomery. After their Week 10 bye, Baltimore plays some of the worst defenses in the NFL. Montgomery might begin to pay off in Week 11 against the Bengals.

How this affects Packers:

We have been clamoring for Aaron Jones to take over the true lead job in Green Bay.

MNF Preview – Go Big on Aaron Rodgers and Packers

San Francisco at Green Bay

Spread: Packers -9.5

When Green Bay Has The Ball:

San Francisco’s pass defense is really struggling on the backend and their edge pass-rush is somewhat nonexistent. That sounds like a rather terrible formula against a quickly recovering Aaron Rodgers on the road in Green Bay … and it absolutely is.

Cowboys, Eagles, Packers make sense for Amari Cooper if Raiders Trade Him

Going into Week 6, rumors were swirling that Amari Cooper could be on the trading block. With the Raiders season spiraling downhill, it is becoming more and more apparent that the new man in charge, Jon Gruden, wants “his guys” rather than those he inherited. Oakland, now 1-5, has already traded Khalil Mack and could be open to other deals, with Cooper being the most notable. After another miserable performance, the Raiders look poised to compete for the first overall pick in the draft.

Cooper has been frustrating and highly inconsistent over the 2018 and 2017 seasons. Drops have been a problem for sure. He looks somewhat disinterested while lacking discipline and physicality, but Cooper is a very talented all-around wide receiver. The thing though is that Cooper’s tape is more impressive than his lackluster numbers. Getting out of his current situation could do this 24-year-old a lot of good, but acquiring Cooper does come with some risk without question.
