Dallas Cowboys

Dee Ford Is This Year’s Demarcus Lawrence

Dee Ford is following in Dallas Cowboys defensive end Demarcus Lawrence’s footsteps. The Kansas City Chiefs’ outside linebacker has Lawrence’s impeccable timing.

Ford is an edge rusher having a breakout season with an expiring contract following an injury plagued year.

Lawrence’s 6.5 sacks in the first three games of the 2017 season resulted in him being named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. Limited to nine games in 2016 because of a four-game suspension under the NFL’s substance abuse policy and a back injury that required surgery, the 2014 second round pick (34th overall) had one sack in 2016. It was the second straight offseason where Lawrence had back surgery.

NFC East is a Mess – Who Will Emerge

he NFC East went from exhibiting big aggression in the front office to dropping a big goose egg on the field.

Yes, this division is up for grabs. May the least messy team win.

Last week, the NFL East was the most aggressive division at the trade deadline. The Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper. The Philadelphia Eagles grabbed wide receiver Golden Tate. The Washington Redskins traded for safety Ha Ha Clinton Dix.

This week, the NFC East’s feast has turned into a famine. The Cowboys were dominated in Monday night’s, 28-14, loss to the Tennessee Titans. Cooper did well but he didn’t spark the Cowboys stagnate offense. At 3-5, the Cowboys are in crisis mode.

MNF Preview – Amari Cooper can have Big Cowboys’ Debut

Tennessee at Dallas

Spread: Cowboys -5

When Tennessee Has The Ball:

This offense has been extremely disappointing this year. It has been awfully tough to watch at times. It might be time to stop making excuses for Marcus Mariota, but he has played through an injury to his throwing arm. That can’t be ignored. Coming off a bye might be exactly what Mariota needs.

Hue Jackson Firing Headlines Mid-Season Black Monday

This wasn’t necessarily the Black Monday the NFL experiences at the conclusion of the regular season, but it was a dark day for quarterbacks and coaches.

Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley were fired in Cleveland. The Dallas Cowboys fired offensive line coach Paul Alexander. Jameis Winston was benched and replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The theme is obviously offense. Browns ownership tired of the inconsistencies on offense and were probably concerned how it was affecting rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield. Even back to the Hard Knocks days, friction between Jackson and Haley was visible in their first season together in Cleveland.

Dallas Cowboys Will Give Amari Cooper a Chance to be Star

As I mentioned in a recent article, the Cowboys were a logical team to pursue Amari Cooper. Now it is has become reality, as Dallas sent a first round pick to the Raiders to add young receiver.

For Oakland, it is pretty clear. Jon Gruden has the ultimate job security and has all the power in the organization. He will rebuild the Raiders in his image. By moving Cooper, Gruden now has three first-round picks next year and five over the next two drafts as well as additional salary cap room to do exactly that.

Cowboys, Eagles, Packers make sense for Amari Cooper if Raiders Trade Him

Going into Week 6, rumors were swirling that Amari Cooper could be on the trading block. With the Raiders season spiraling downhill, it is becoming more and more apparent that the new man in charge, Jon Gruden, wants “his guys” rather than those he inherited. Oakland, now 1-5, has already traded Khalil Mack and could be open to other deals, with Cooper being the most notable. After another miserable performance, the Raiders look poised to compete for the first overall pick in the draft.

Cooper has been frustrating and highly inconsistent over the 2018 and 2017 seasons. Drops have been a problem for sure. He looks somewhat disinterested while lacking discipline and physicality, but Cooper is a very talented all-around wide receiver. The thing though is that Cooper’s tape is more impressive than his lackluster numbers. Getting out of his current situation could do this 24-year-old a lot of good, but acquiring Cooper does come with some risk without question.
