Texans Titans and Colts All Still Alive in AFC South

Texans Titans and Colts All Still Alive in AFC South

No division has more ups and downs than the AFC South.

The Houston Texans got off to an 0-3 start. The Tennessee Titans jumped to 5-4 with a convincing victory over the New England Patriots. Out of nowhere, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts got hot and all of a sudden have a decent chance of making the playoffs despite a 1-5 start.

Monday Morning MD – Eagles are Crumbling in Secondary

Injuries often beget injuries. We know when playing hurt, one can injure a different body part more easily through compensation. When starters get hurt, the backups can be more likely to be injured, too. I call this the “domino effect”. First, the second string has to try harder and sell out to make the grade, making them more prone to injury. Next, non-starters are the backbone of special teams and when they move up on the depth chart, they often take on double duty as their special teams roles continue and fatigue sets in making injuries more likely.

The Eagles defensive backfield is such an example and the secondary continues to fall like dominos. Philadelphia had its share of injuries last season, but the backups were able to step in to help get the ring. This year, even the second line of the secondary is getting hurt.

Chiefs-Rams — Tale of the Tape

Usually, this column for the Monday Night game is a breakdown of the game with a strong emphasis on fantasy football. This upcoming matchup, a possible Super Bowl preview, is going to take a different approach. Below is the tale of the tape comparing the Chiefs and the Rams. Oh, and for fantasy purposes, make sure you get every possible player from this game in your lineup that you can…it is that simple.

Quarterback

Obviously, Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes benefit a great deal from their respective situations. There will be more about that later of course. But which of these two is the better player right now? Goff absolutely is living up to his first overall pick in the draft status and continues to improve. More is on his plate this year and he is running with it. But the edge here goes to Mahomes. Both quarterbacks are poised beyond their years and are clearly excelling as they lead two elite offenses, but there is more of a wow factor with Mahomes and his pure talents gives him the edge here.

Edge: Chiefs
