Fantasy Fact or Fiction: Will Julio Jones Bounce Back

Below are several fantasy players whose production stuck out in Week 5 in either a positive or negative manner. Let’s examine if that trend will keep up or if it was just a blip on the radar:

Blake Bortles

Week 5 Stat Line: 33 of 61 for 430 Yards and 1 Touchdown, 4 Rushes for 34 Yards and 1 Touchdown

Fact or Fiction? Fact

You would think that this stat line for this particular player would qualify as “fiction”. In some ways, it does, as it clearly is a terrible recipe for success to have this guy throw 61 passes. That is losing football. However, that really doesn’t matter for our purposes concerning fantasy. Bortles now has put up big numbers two weeks in a row and has thrown for over 375 yards in three of his five starts this year. The fact is, that when the Jaguars are without Leonard Fournette, Bortles puts up fantasy numbers and that should continue. Jacksonville has a deep and emerging group of receivers for Bortles to distribute the ball to and Bortles is good for week in and week out points as a runner. There are a ton of excellent quarterbacks in fantasy right now in the NFL obviously, but don’t discount what Bortles is doing for fantasy purposes … no matter what you think of him as a player.
