It is Time for Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Move on From Jameis Winston

After throwing his fourth interception of the day, Jameis Winston was benched in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday. Fitzpatrick brought the Buccaneers back to tie the game in Cincinnati before finally falling to the Bengals. Much like when Winston was returning from his suspension to start the season, we, once again, have to examine what is the best way to proceed at this critical position for both the short and long term for the organization?

Winston, the former first overall pick, certainly has his issues. He is a poor deep passer, but more concerning is what he we saw Sunday. His turnovers (10 interceptions in four games) are a gigantic problem. He also doesn’t historically protect the football well enough in the pocket. Winston has no conscience on the field. This can be a good and bad things for an NFL quarterback, but in Winston’s case, he just doesn’t value the football nearly enough and tries to be Superman on far too many occasions.
